Who was involved in the march on Washington and who planed it

The march was the work of many individuals and groups. It was the original idea of veteran civil rights and labor leader, A. Philip Randolph. Had been involved in the struggle for black rights since the 1920s, in 1925 he had organized the first black labor union, the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters. He was probably most famous for his role in the March on Washington Movement—an effort by blacks in 1941 to persuade President Franklin D. Roosevelt to issue an order outlawing racial discrimination in federal war industries by threatening to bring to Washington 100,000 protesting blacks. The marchers included persons from across the country and from overseas, representing all classes, nearly all ages, and most of the religious groups of the country. Also Roy Wilkins, Whitney M. Young , James Farmer, MLK Jr. and Jhon Lewis . There were many representatives in the march on Washington On July 2,1963 the representives met to plan the March they were from most of the major civil rights organizations. The big 6 was were the 6 main people in the March.

What happened at the March on Washington ?

The most important thing that happened at the march on Washington happened at the Lincoln Memorial with 100nds of thousands of people gathered to watch Martin Luther king J.R deliver one of the most important speeches in America's history. The March first started out with a gathering of around 50 or so people but as the day went on the number increased to 250,000 people. During the march in anticipation of trouble, the Washington

police force of 2,900 officers was restricted from taking leave and 1,000 police officers from neighboring cities were made available to keep there from fighting. During the march the protesters had sighs that said we demand voting rights, non integrated schools, decent homes, and justice. an estimated quarter of a million people—about a quarter of whom were white—marched from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial, in what turned out to be both a protest and a communal celebration.

Where was the march on Washington?

The March on Washington was in Washington D.C and went to the Lincoln Memorial where MLk gave his I have a dream speech

Why did the March on Washington happen?

Throughout history, blacks were beaten and harassed for no apparent reason? In 1963 black unemployment was high, with blacks at 11%, while whites only at 6%. A white family earned, on average, about $6,500 a year, a black family earned $3,500 a year. Blacks knew that this had to change, or else serious consequences would occur. Not only would the discrimination continue, but they would have nothing to live on. Blacks for years have been demanding voting rights non integrated schools and freedom. This is why the march on Washington happened.

The Confederate Battle Flag is both racist and not racist. It is not racist because the symbols on the flag are just representing the 13 states that dropped out of the union. It is racist because the people from the Confederate states fought for slavery which is racist to blacks. It is racist because the land owners considered blacks as property and made them labor from dawn to dusk.

The state flag of Georia changed in 1956 because John Sammons Bell suggested a new state flag that would include the Confederate battle flag and the Georgia state seal. At the 1956 session of the General Assembly jefferson Lee Davis and Willis Hardenintroduced the Senate Bill 98 to change the Georgia state flag. It became active the following July 1.
